Innovative solutions for a sustainable and responsible habitat

LAUNCH OF THE CHAIR

Agreement signed July 28, 2010 and Chair inaugurated December 13, 2010

Philippe COUSSOT (Ecole des Ponts ParisTech) and Jean-Baptiste DENIS (SAINT-GOBAIN)

The objective of this Chair is to reinforce the partnership between the scientific world and industry by supporting training through research in the field of materials science, and by encouraging research activities linked with the “habitat of the future”.

The Chair’s international dimension reflects the partners’ agreed policy to develop their links with foreign universities and research centers recognized for their excellence in the Chair’s areas of interest: invitations to foreign professors, support for foreign students on double degree programs at École des ponts ParisTech, organization of lectures, etc.

The Chair’s educational component will focus on promoting the training of École des Ponts ParisTech students on the Mechanical and Civil Engineering  Masters program, and more specifically on the specialist subject in Materials Science for Sustainable Construction.

The Research component will be based on collaborations established with researchers in the School’s laboratories, in particular working on “rheology and formulation of materials” and “spatial representation of buildings”.
