ASSESSMENT OF FRANCE'S HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS BASED ON SD&SR CRITERIA
Ecole nationale des ponts et chaussées regularly assesses its sustainable development and social responsibility practices (SD & SR), on the basis of the Loi Grenelle criteria proposed by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles and the Conference of University Presidents. A level of self-assessment and an action plan have been set for each set of criteria.
2025 Strategic Plan
Our strategic plan includes three major sustainable development targets:
- Reinforce education in key areas of sustainable development: in this domain, the School has established a skills matrix to assess the extent to which these issues are given consideration in the Engineering programme. It has updated its humanities and social science course offerings in the Engineering programme to help support this target.
- Make sustainable development a part of everyday life at École nationale des ponts et chaussées: an assessment based on SD&SR criteria has been conducted and an action plan has been presented to the Executive Committee.
- Contribute to the national strategy for ecological transition towards sustainable development by committing nearly 100% of our research force to the four following priorities: circular and low-carbon economy; new business and financial models; knowledge production, research and innovation for ecological transition; and education and training in the areas of ecological transition and sustainable development.

2020 ANNUAL REPORT
Ecole nationale des ponts et chaussées's 2020 Annual Report was named "Best in the World" in the "H12 University" category by the Hallbars Sustainability Research Institute. This institution, based in Sweden, is devoted to promoting "sustainability" reports published by all kinds of organizations in all sectors. The Hallbars Sustainability Research Institute was created in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic with the aim of driving the move towards sustainability (hållbar means "Sustainable" in Swedish).
For each socio-economic sector, this ranking rewards three reports focused on the publishing organization's contribution to sustainability (content quality, readability and graphic design). The two other reports rewarded in our sector are: the 2020 Social Report of the University of Bologna (Italy) and the 2020-2021 Annual Report of the Oxford College of Business (Sri Lanka)

PUBLIC PROCUREMENT
The 2021-2025 French National Action Plan for Sustainable Purchasing specifies that 30% of public contracts must have at least one social or environmental clause.
At Ecole nationale des ponts et chaussées, this target has been met: out of the 42 contracts awarded in 2021, 19 included at least one social or environmental clause.
