Admission requirements
A. Recruitment levels – Degree required
* Applies to "ingénieurs des ponts, des eaux et des forêts".
In brief, the minimum qualification required is:
- an engineering degree (or equivalent qualification from other scientific grandes écoles) for the engineering examination and for the internal career development examination;
- a PhD (or equivalent qualification) for the external competition based on selection and work experience.
* Applies to other potential applicants: Applicants for the programme must hold one of the following qualifications:
- engineering degree,
- degree in fundamental veterinary studies,
- university Masters degree either in one of the specialist fields of the corps des ingénieurs des ponts, des eaux et des forêts (agriculture, environment, transport, urbanism, meteorology, etc.) or in the humanities and social sciences (economics, geography…).
However, applications from individuals wishing to make a more profound career change will be examined with particular care.
Applications from individuals with first year Masters degree level qualifications but with professional experience may be accepted on the basis of a reasonable case and at least 3 years’ experience, recognised as the equivalent of second year Masters level by the selection panel. Good French will be required.
The generic requirements to enter this post-Masters programme are:
- a coherent career plan;
- academic qualifications of second year Masters or equivalent;
- project management skills;
- potential for an operational management role;
- for non-French mother tongue foreign applicants, a very good knowledge of French is essential.
B. Selection (based on application form, examinations, jury …)

* Applies to other applicants: applicants are admitted after assessment of their application.
The application must include:
- a curriculum vitae;
- a covering letter;
- tanscripts of the grades obtained in each year of higher education after the Bachelors degree;
- cpies of educational certificates (from and including the baccalaureate);
- for or foreign students whose mother tongue is not French, a certificate of competence in the French language issued by the French Embassy’s cultural services or by a French language training body. Students with an accredited degree in the French language are exempt from this requirement.
The selection process consists of an interview lasting approximately 45 minutes with a panel made up of equal numbers from the two partner establishments. Former students or representatives of the professional world will also be involved in the selection process as far as possible. Its purpose is to get to know the applicant, assess their personality, identify their career goals, understand their motives in applying for the Advanced Masters and decide if they have the required qualities.
The list of successful applicants is decided by the admission panels on the basis of the information in their application and the application interview.
