Scholarships and mobility grants
Students wishing to undertake part of their degree abroad have several possible sources of funding. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the different possible arrangements.
Erasmus+ scholarships
These scholarships, funded by the European Union, are boosting students'mobillity in the European Union, whether study mobility or internship mobility (regardless if these internships are paid or not). Internship scholarships can also be awarded to students doing their PFE in a European country.
Since 2014, within the framework of the Erasmus + program, the monthly allowances have been set based on the destination country:
- Group 1 countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and some countries not associated to the Erasmus program : Andora, Feroe Islands, Monaco, the United Kingdom, San Marin, Switzerland and Vatican | 292 euros for study allowance, 442 euros for internship allowance.
- Group 2 countries: Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain | 225 euros pour for study allowance, 375 euros for internship allowance.
- Group 3 countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Turkey | 225 euros for study allowance, 375 euros for internship allowance.
In addition to these amounts, a financial supplement of €250/month may be awarded to students with fewer opportunities who can prove that they are in one of the following situations:
- Students with a disability or suffering from a long-term illness
- Students who have received a school grant of more than €5,500 in 2023-2024 or 2024-2025.
- Students whose parents' home is located in a Priority Neighborhood (Quartier prioritaire de la Ville - QPV)
- Students whose parents' home is located in a France Rural Revitalization Zone (France Ruralité Revitalisation - FRR)
Students can take part in the Erasmus+ program several times during their degree, up to a maximum of 12 months per academic cycle (Bachelor, master). Periods of mobility can be split during the degree program.
In the case of mobilities for study and/or internships, scholarship applications must be submitted to the Direction of International Relations : Emmanuel Simantov, Head of international mobility.
Staff mobility (researchers, professors, administrative staff), lasting from 2 days to 2 months, excluding travel, to participating countries:
- For teaching activities: a minimum of 8 hours at a higher education institution holding the Erasmus Charter located in one of the participating countries.
- For a training activity: training/internship/observation period within a company or higher education institution (including structured courses and language training). Attending conferences is not eligible.
In the case of teaching and training mobilities, funding applications must be adressed to the Direction of international relations and corporate partnerships (Emmanuel Simantov, Erasmus+ Coordinator).
International credit mobility
Since 2014, the School has been participating in the Erasmus+ program's “International Credit Mobility” initiative. This project was renewed in 2023 and involves three of our partner countries outside Europe: Japan, Lebanon, and Côte d'Ivoire.
Incoming students admitted to the School or outgoing students (Japan only) can benefit from European Commission support, and receive travel grants and monthly allowances.
Erasmus+ supports people with disabilities
One of the objectives of the Erasmus+ program for the period 2020-2027 is to make it more accessible. Erasmus+ aims to promote equity and inclusion by facilitating “access for participants from disadvantaged backgrounds and with fewer opportunities than their peers", where the situation of these individuals limits or prevents their participation.
Fondation des Ponts scholarships and loans
Every year, the Fondation des Ponts awards a number of excellence scholarships (Jacques Coiffard scholarships), and also grants unsecured loans to students completing part of their studies abroad.
Scholarships from several French Regions
Several French Regions also provide scholarships for study abroad, in particular Normandie but also the Grand Est, Occitanie and Auvergne Rhone Alpes regions. You are therefore advised to seek information in your home region (generally the one where you took your baccalaureate), by checking their website.
CDEFI mobility allowances (ARFITEC and BRAFITEC programmes)
The CDEFI (Conference of directors of French engineering schools) has set up several international educational cooperation programs. The School participates in the ARFITEC and BRAFITEC programmes.
Through projects supported by CDEFI, students carrying out a period of study at one of our partners in Argentina or Brazil can be awarded a one-off sum for their mobility.
Erasmus + Masters Loans
Erasmus + offers the possibility of applying for a loan to study for a Masters degree abroad. These loans are provided by the banks and lending agencies involved in the project, in France Caisse d’épargne and Banque Populaire. Higher education students admitted to a full Masters program in an Erasmus + program country can apply for an Erasmus + loan. Students can borrow up to €12,000 for a one-year Masters degree, and up to €18,000 for a two-year Masters program. Students should address their applications directly to the participating banks or lending agencies.
