Open call: become EELISA Student Reporter in 2026
To mark the EELISA Days, taking place in November 2026, the EELISA European University Alliance is inviting students to apply to become EELISA Student Reporters and contribute to the creation of digital media content for the Alliance.
This initiative will give selected students the opportunity to cover major events hosted by EELISA member institutions, engage with the wider EELISA community and share their experiences through written, photographic, video and digital storytelling.
Three EELISA events to cover
EELISA Student Reporters will be invited to participate in one of the following events:
- EELISA PhD Symposium
Paris, France
3–4 November - EELISA Student-Led Bootcamp
Winterthur, Switzerland
9–10 November - EELISA Co-Learning Lab
Istanbul, Türkiye
26–27 November
In the application form, students must indicate which event or events they would like to cover, ranked according to their preferences and availability.
One student will be selected from each EELISA member institution.
Each selected student will receive full financial support for their travel and stay at one of the EELISA campuses hosting the events. They will join a reporting team of up to four students from different institutions across the Alliance.
Final event assignments and mobility destinations will be communicated once the full group of EELISA Student Reporters has been confirmed.
Ahead of the events, selected students will also take part in two dedicated workshops on science communication, digital storytelling and social media content creation.
Who can apply?
The call is open to students from the School, regardless of their level or field of study.
It is particularly aimed at students with an interest in:
- science communication
- writing and storytelling
- photography and video production
- graphic design and visual communication
- social media content creation
Applicants should be motivated to develop their communication skills, work within an international team and showcase their creativity to a European audience.

Eligibility requirements
Applicants must:
be enrolled at the School, regardless of their level or field of study
have at least a B2 level of English
demonstrate previous experience or a clear interest in at least one of the following areas: communication, creative writing, photography, graphic design, video production or social media content creation
Application materials
Applications must include:
- a short video in English introducing yourself, presenting your experience or skills in creative content production and explaining your motivation for joining the initiative
- a link to existing self-produced work, a portfolio or relevant social media content
- a completed application form

Application deadline
Applications must be submitted no later than 13 September 2026
Selection process and criteria
A jury composed of communication professionals from **[name of institution]** and EELISA will select one student from among the applications received.
Applicants will be assessed on their compliance with the eligibility requirements and according to the following criteria:
- quality and originality of the submitted work
- communication skills
- creativity and relevance of the ideas proposed for covering the event
- complementarity and diversity of profiles within the final group
Selected applicants will be contacted and the results are expected to be announced approximately one week after the application deadline.
Programme and expected contributions
Before the event
Selected students will be expected to participate in two workshops scheduled for October 2026.
Workshop 1 – 1 hour 30 minutes
- Introduction to EELISA and EELISA communication
- introduction to science communication and digital storytelling
- guidance on producing engaging and impactful content for social media
Workshop 2 – 2 hours
- collaborative brainstorming and content development
- selection of editorial and visual formats
- definition of the workflow and distribution of tasks during the events
During the event
The content to be produced will be shaped by the ideas proposed by the participants and the collective decisions made during the second workshop.
Possible formats may include:
- short event recap videos for Instagram
- quotes and testimonials from participants shared on Bluesky or Instagram Stories
- daily highlight posts covering the main activities
- Instagram or Facebook carousels
- longer LinkedIn posts summarising key discussions and insights
- temporary social media takeovers across Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook
A minimum level of participation and content production will be agreed collectively to ensure consistent coverage of each event.
After the event
EELISA Student Reporters will contribute to post-event storytelling by producing content based on their interests and on the scientific or student projects presented during the events.
These contributions may include:
- video interviews with participants, project teams or award winners
- long-form articles exploring the development of selected projects
- behind-the-scenes stories about the different stages of the projects
- curated photographic or visual collections showcasing the featured projects
The profiles and work of the selected students may be presented on the EELISA website. Upon completion of the programme, each participant will receive an EELISA certificate recognising their contribution as a reporter and media content creator.
