Transport infrastructure: a strategic driver for regions

The next symposium in the ‘Décider Maintenant’ series will examine the role of infrastructure in enhancing the attractiveness of regions. It follows on from the February 2026 event, which focused on models of governance, funding and management of transport infrastructure.

Leonard, La Fabrique de la Cité and the École nationale des ponts et chaussées, with the support of VINCI Autoroutes, are organising the symposium, which will encourage discussion on the question: “What role does infrastructure play in regional development?”

Registration and detailed programme

Transport infrastructure transforms regions, supports their development and contributes to the quality of life of their residents. Building on the discussions that began earlier this year, this new edition will examine the conditions for the successful integration of infrastructure and regions. It will focus on drawing lessons from existing or past projects and outlining future prospects for infrastructure that is ever more closely integrated with regional dynamics.

Through the combined perspectives of elected representatives, researchers, public sector stakeholders and operators, the discussions will explore the links between mobility, economic development, spatial planning and territorial cohesion, and examine the conditions that enable infrastructure to become genuine tools for regional development.
