Visit of the Escuela de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid at the School to strenghten our partnership
The École is proud to have welcomed the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos (CaminosUPM) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid for three days of institutional visit. A special delegation (Academics Directors, Professors, Managers) led by its Director, José Miguel Atienza, from the esteemed Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos came to visit, from November 12th to 14th, 2024. It marks a significant milestone in the longstanding collaboration between two of the world’s most prestigious engineering institutions.
The Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos (ETSICCP) / School of Civil Engineering of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid continues the heritage of the Spanish Civil Engineering tradition. We both share a deep and historic connection. They offer Bachelor, Master and Doctorate programs in Civil Engineering, Material Engineering and Structure Engineering with excellency recognized among the best in the world. We do have a special bond enhanced by the legacy of Agustín de Betancourt, an alumni of École nationale des ponts et chaussées who played a key role in founding the ETSICCP. This week’s visit serves to further strengthen our partnership, especially in the context of innovative programs such as our Master in Digital Twins and the collaborative efforts under the EELISA European University umbrella.
The agenda for the ETSICCP delegation includes a series of parallel meetings, technical visits, and meetings with key figures in engineering, academia and leading French companies. Highlights include discussions on public action, joint degree, European Bachelor and a meeting regarding the Digital Twins Master. The delegation's discussions focus on ENPC-UPM bilateral collaboration and EELISA initiatives followed by a tour of the Archives (collection of Betancourt), Navier Laboratory and a world café with Caminos students at our School. These interactions are not only a testament to our shared commitment to excellence in engineering education but also to addressing global challenges through innovation further highlighting the potential for expanded collaboration between our institutions.
We are particularly grateful to all the delagation for dedicating their time to engage with our community and our partners. Thier presence and insights are invaluable as we explore new frontiers in civil engineering education and research.
The École nationale des ponts et chaussées is committed to fostering these international partnerships, which are crucial in preparing our students to become global leaders in engineering. The visit of The Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos (CaminosUPM) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is a shining example of how international collaboration can enrich our academic and research endeavors, paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in the field of engineering.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to CaminosUPM for this fruitful visit and look forward to the continued strengthening of our relationship.
