OACOS Programme
There are four standard programmes
For each programme, a student must obtain 27 ECTS in the compulsory courses, 6 ECTS in optional courses and 27 ECTS in the research placement.
The four programmes are:
- Ocean, atmosphere and climate dynamics: atmospheric and oceanic circulation‐Director: Vladimir Zeitlin
- Meteorology, physics and chemistry of the atmosphere: core content of the first programme but with a focus on the physics and chemistry of atmospheric components (humidity, aerosols, gaseous air pollutants, etc.) – Directors: Hélène Chepfer and François Ravetta
- Physical remote sensing methods: acquisition, processing and use of satellite data, and essential physical notions such as radiation transfer – Director: Laurence Picon
- Coastal oceanography: ocean circulation, in particular coastal hydrodynamics and the complex interactions between ocean and shore – Director: Laurent Mortier.
Competencies and Knowledge acquired
- In-depth knowledge of the dynamic, physical and chemical mechanisms governing the atmosphere, the ocean and the climate.
- Precise knowledge of the potential of Earth observation techniques and meteorological and oceanographic forecasting methods.
- Unique and legitimate capacity to contribute to the debate on climate change and its impact on planet Earth and human society.
