Social inclusion
Presentation of the “Inclusion Experiment” project
Alongside this tutorship programme, first-year student engineers offer educational support classes at the School for secondary school and lycée pupils from Champs-sur-Marne and Noisiel every Thursday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Project goals
“Inclusion Experiment” is a programme aimed at secondary school and lycée pupils from disadvantaged areas, with the goal of sharpening their curiosity and their awareness of science.The idea is to overcome cultural and psychological barriers to high-level education.
The 2012/2013 tutoring and course support programme
Educational content and topics
Every year, one topic is chosen as a guiding thread for the activities:
- Water in 2009/2010 (storage, supply, distribution, economics);
- sustainable development in 2010/2011;
- energy in 2011/2012
- science and society this year.
The different educational initiatives – visits, practical experiments, theoretical explanations, feedback sessions – are run and managed by the tutors, with the help of teachers from the relevant school or lycée (one teacher of Physical Chemistry and one teacher of Life and Earth Sciences).
At the end of the year, a feedback session held at the School brings together the pupils involved, school heads, along with teachers, parents and personalities from the academic and political worlds.At these events, it is the pupils themselves who present the experiments and visits and describe their experience.

Cordées de la réussite National Days
The School participates in the Cordées de la réussite(success lifelines) National Daysheaded by the Interministerial Committee on Equal Opportunities.
Every year, during the Cordées de la réussite National Days, École nationale des ponts et chaussées, in collaboration with the Paris-East University Research and Higher Education Cluster, Paris-East Marne-la-Vallée University (IMAC, CFA Ingénieurs 2000 and ESIPE), ESIEE Paris, ENSG and ENSAVT, organises an open information day for secondary and lycée pupils from schools near Cité Descartes.
This event is an opportunity to talk to young people about different higher education options, to motivate them for a career in engineering and to counter some of the myths about high-level education programmes.
Initiative École nationale des ponts et chaussées and the DévelopPonts Association intensify their activities
