Who are we?

At École nationale des ponts et chaussées, all students have to spend some of the course abroad, whether studying or in a placement or internship.

A requirement

A minimum requirement has been introduced for students admitted by examination: they must spend a minimum of eight continuous weeks abroad during their course. In practice, École des Ponts students spend an average of one year of their course programme outside France.

Possibilities abroad

  • On the scientific placement : three-month initiation into research at the end of the first year. 67% of first-year students choose to carry out their scientific placement in a laboratory or partner university research centre abroad.
  • On the short placement : two-month work experience on a functional project between the 2nd and 3rd years. More than 50% of short placements take place abroad.
  • On the long placement corporate work experience as a novice engineer, for one year between the 2nd and 3rd years. More than 25% of long placements take place abroad.
  • For the end of course project : va genuine professional project, one semester at the end of the 3rd year.
  • Under the double-degree process: academic programme through which students can obtain both the École nationale des ponts et chaussées degree and the partner university degree.
  • As part of a third year abroad : one or two semester academic programme in a foreign university. Almost half the students who enter the School via examination will spend a year at a partner university during their degree.
