CIRED 50th Anniversary
The Centre international de recherche sur l’environnement et le développement (CIRED) is an interdisciplinary research laboratory at large economic dominant created in 1973 by Ignacy Sachs. CIRED has been a pioneering research unit in development and environmental economics, with only a few young scholars in the beginning, and now more than a hundred researchers and students who still pursue the same agenda: to identify development pathways, in the global North as well as in the global South, that are compatible with the ever-increasing ecological imperatives.
To celebrate this anniversary, CIRED will organize a symposium to be held in Paris on Thursday 30, and Friday 31 March 2023. The symposium will address the tensions and synergies between environment and development.
