EELISA Roundtable to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
A survey run among EELISA researchers and academic staff in September 2022 revealed that many researchers feel parenthood is “a hurdle” for their research career and complain about incompatibility of raising children and keeping up with the demands of a top-level research position. What are the daily-life experiences in this regard? What are the current best practices and policies to support researchers who decide to raise a family? What are the issues that still need to be covered?
Following the success of the first EELISA public roundtable “Women who make science happen” (February 2022) and in the context of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11th of February), EELISA presents the II EELISA Roundtable “Parenting and STEM in the 21st Century: raising children, giving up science?”, on 10 of February from 10 AM to 1 PM (CET) - 9:30 AM (CET) for on-site participants.
With the aim to open a space for reflection on this important issue from the perspective of a wide spectrum of realities, panelists with different backgrounds and positions within EELISA institutions as well as collaborators and experts will share their knowledge, work, and experience on this topic.
This is a hybrid event that will be preceded by a Welcome Coffee for on-site participants.
