The School strengthens its commitment in Africa with the 7th edition of the Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program
The School continues its commitment to supporting sustainable infrastructure development in Africa through the 7th edition of the Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program (AIFP). In 2026, this international capacity-building programme will notably feature a Masterclass in Paris and a regional Bootcamp in Lomé, Togo, with contributions from the Laboratoire Ville Mobilité Transport (LVMT).
Launched in 2018 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program is an initiative led by the Global Infrastructure Hub, Meridiam and the World Economic Forum. Its ambition is to support African public-sector stakeholders in the design, financing and implementation of sustainable infrastructure projects by strengthening their expertise in regulation, public procurement and the management of public-private partnerships (PPPs). Through its various training formats, the AIFP also promotes knowledge sharing and networking among professionals from the public and private sectors, international institutions and academia.
An international Masterclass in Paris and a Bootcamp in Lomé
Held in Paris, the Masterclass will be one of the highlights of this 7th edition. Over three weeks, it will bring together 20 public-sector professionals, including eight women, from 19 African countries. This intensive training programme combines CP3P-APMG certification, specialised courses and professional immersion within partner organisations, scheduled from 16 to 27 November.
Participants will benefit from the expertise of academics, representatives of national and international organisations, and professionals from both the public and private sectors. They will also have the opportunity to take part in discussions during Paris Infraweek, which focuses on infrastructure financing.
The School’ Laboratoire Ville Mobilité Transport (LVMT) will contribute to the programme by addressing public-private partnership issues across several sectors, including water and sanitation, urban mobility, electricity systems and digital networks. The sessions will explore new approaches to infrastructure financing and delivery in response to the challenges posed by Africa’s urbanisation, while taking into account interactions with informal-sector stakeholders.
The final day of the Masterclass will focus on two major infrastructure development challenges: climate finance and investment risk mitigation, with a contribution from CIRED, followed by high-capacity urban public transport, with the participation of LVMT researchers and funding institutions.
In addition to the Paris Masterclass, the AIFP will organise a regional Bootcamp from 30 November to 4 December 2026 at the headquarters of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) in Lomé. This intensive five-day training programme will bring together between 40 and 50 participants from member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). The Bootcamp will provide a practical approach tailored to local realities, with the aim of strengthening public-sector stakeholders’ skills in the preparation, financing and implementation of sustainable infrastructure projects.
LVMT at the heart of the training programme
Through its contribution to both the Paris Masterclass and the Lomé Bootcamp, the Laboratoire Ville Mobilité Transport will mobilise its expertise in mobility, infrastructure financing and governance. This involvement reflects the School’ commitment to placing its academic and scientific expertise at the service of institutional and professional capacity-building among its African partners.
By combining research, education and international cooperation, the School is helping public-sector stakeholders develop and implement infrastructure projects that address the continent’s economic, social and environmental challenges.
