The SCOPE collaborative mathematics research project selected by the ANR
The collaborative research project “Singularities and Geometric COntrol in Partial Differential Equations” (SCOPE) has been selected by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of its 2026 General Call for Proposals within the Mathematics and its Interactions evaluation committee. At the intersection of fundamental and applied mathematics, SCOPE brings together researchers to work on key themes in geometric analysis and control theory.
Pierre Lissy, the project’s scientific lead and coordinator, is a research director at CERMICS. He has held a junior professorship at CERMICS since 2023 within the Modelling, Analysis and Simulation team, and was appointed Research Director by the Ministry responsible for the ecological transition on 1 September 2026, based at CERMICS. His research focuses on the control and stabilisation of non-linear partial differential equations, with a particular interest in coupled systems.
Pierre Lissy has also been awarded funding under the FRONTIERS call for proposals from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. He will lead and coordinate the “Input-Output Structures for STABilizing Complex PDE system (IOSTAB)” project and will collaborate with two co-principal researchers: Sébastien Impériale (Inria / CMAP – École Polytechnique) and Swann Marx (CNRS / LS2N – Centrale Nantes). This project was selected from among the most ambitious scientific proposals to conduct exploratory research at the interface between applied mathematics and theoretical control theory, and forms part of efforts to advance our understanding of control theory.
