A stroll in the rain: conference at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie

06 Oct. 2026

Have you ever taken the time to watch the rain? Not just to endure it or wait for it, but to observe it – beneath the clouds, on damp paths, or on the surface of rivers or the sea? Have you ever wondered whether you should run or walk in the rain? Or whether it rains less under the trees?

This talk, based on the book "Balade sous la pluie" (A Stroll in the Rain), co-written by Auguste Gires, a researcher in hydrometeorology at the School, and researcher Eleonora Dallan, explores this everyday phenomenon – experienced by us all, essential to our lives… yet, ultimately, little understood.

We’ll explore its mysteries and immediate consequences through a series of photographs depicting situations we might all encounter in our daily lives. Ready to go for a walk together?
