Virginie Ehrlacher wins the "Young Woman Scientist" Irène Joliot-Curie prize
Virginie Ehrlacher, professor and researcher at École nationale des ponts et chaussées's Research Center in Mathematics and Scientific Computing (Cermics), was awarded the prestigious Irène Joliot-Curie prize for "Young Female Scientist" by the French Ministry of Education and Research. She was officially awarded the prize on Tuesday 21 November at a ceremony in Paris.
Created in 2001, with the support of Académie des Sciences and Académie des Technologies, the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize promotes the place and importance of women in the world of science and technology.
Virginie Ehrlacher has been rewarded for her research work on the development and mathematical analysis of new efficient numerical methods for solving large-scale, multi-scale problems in various fields of materials science, including quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics.
She has also just been awarded a prestigious European Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC).
