The Masters degrees are 4-semester programs that correspond to level M1 after a Bachelors Degree and to level M2 after one year of M1. These Masters degrees can be completed in their own right or jointly accredited with Universities. Each Masters program offers several options for specialization, but at least one semester is common to all the Masters programs, generally at level M1. École nationale des ponts et chaussées is not necessarily involved in all the Masters options for which it is jointly accredited with Universities. These degrees focus primarily on teaching research methods and passing on knowledge. They prepare students for PhD research at IP Paris or for entry into the working world.
Each Masters program has its own admission conditions.
The Mastère Spécialisé® (Exexutive Masters), and the MSc-Master of Sciencea® are labels awarded by the CGE (Conférence des Grandes Écoles). They provide high-level training secialized in one industry or one job-role. Executive Masters admit students holding a minimum 4-year university degree and first professionnal experience. MSc-Master of Science admit students holding a minimum 4-year university degree.
The PhD program serves the challenges of the ecological and digital transition. Leading to the Diplôme de Docteur de l'École nationale des ponts et chaussées, the training program combines an international exposure (two-month outgoing mobility), close connections with industry and exposure to public action
In 2024-2025, 47 École nationale des ponts et chaussées thesis have been defended. The School had 218 PhD students enrolled in its research centers, 50% of them were international students.
