ATHENS week 2025

17 Nov. 2025 - 21 Nov. 2025

The ATHENS Network (Advanced Technology Higher Education Network/Socrates), established in 1996, promotes exchanges among students, professors, and researchers from leading European technical universities and engineering schools. Its main activity is the ATHENS Week — a week-long program of intensive scientific and technological courses held twice a year across member institutions.

The network’s flagship action is a program of intensive week-long courses at each member institution. L'École nationale des ponts et chaussées is a member of the ATHENS Network made up of 15 leading European technological universities and 6 ParisTech Graduate Schools of Engineering. Twice a year students have the opportunity to follow a one-week intensive course, organized by several European Universities. This programme, known as the ATHENS week, is a unique opportunity for students with a scientific or technological background to visit one of the network’s partners providing one-week courses of a high academic standard. For some, this experience might even be an inspiration to embark on a longer international mobility programme later on. The School takes part in the session organized during the 3rd week of November. Participants take 30 hours of scientific courses, plus several social activities aimed at presenting outstanding aspects of the host city and at mixing Athens students with local students. At the end of the course, students receive a grade. Validating a course may be worth 1,5 to 3 ECTS.

For the November 2025 session, The School offers the 5 following courses:

  • Conceiving eco-districts
  • Planning the European electricity system: a serious game
  • Startup Creathon
  • Raw earth : a building material for tomorrow
  • Uncertainty Quantification in Numerical Simulation

The School will welcome about 100 students from 17 institutions among which 17 students from 3 members of the EELISA alliance: UPM (Spain), BME (Hungary) & ITU (Turkey).

Approximately 67 students from the School will attend courses at our Parners’, including 4 institutions from the EELISA Alliance: BME (Hungary), UPM (Spain), NUSTPB (Romania) and ITU (Turkey).

Almost 70 ENPC students stay in France to take a course offered by one of the 5 other ParisTech Graduate Schools of Engineering giving them an insight into subjects quite different from those taught on our campus. AgroParisTech, Telecom Paris, ENSAM, MINES Paris PSL and Chimie ParisTech are all very popular among our students.

Students attending a course at a member of the ELLISA Alliance will benefit from a subsidy aiming at covering part of the cost of this mobility.
