21 Sep. 2023

Virginie Ehrlacher, researcher at CERMICS (Research Center in Mathematics and Scientific Computing) was awarded an ERC (European Research Council) Starting Grant. The HighLEAP project (High-dimensional mathematical methods for LargE Agent and Particle systems) will start on December 1st, 2023 for 5 years.

Starting Grants are awarded to researchers at the beginning of their careers who wish to develop an ambitious and exploratory research project at the frontiers of knowledge.

The aim of this project is to provide a new mathematical framework for the development and analysis of efficient and accurate numerical methods for the simulation of high-dimensional particle or agent systems, based on applications in materials science and stochastic game theory.

The potential impacts of the project are significant: making large-scale simulations possible will provide valuable information on the predictive capabilities of models for agent or particle systems, with applications in many fields such as quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, crowd movements or urban traffic.
